I had a great uncle, Willis Martin Cummins that owned and operated a dry goods store in Eagle Lake in the 1920's. He was originally from Attala County, MS, and born to the parents of Isaac Marion Cummins and Nancy Matilda Guess November 10, 1870.

I have a letter that he wrote my granddad in 1927 indicating business was slow that day due to rain.

Just wondering if anyone out there that may have further info on his place of business.

This is a great site, a lot of time and thoughtful effort are exhibited.......

Hello Family and Friends, I just recieved a email from my cousins Ila Mae Rigwald about a family reunion in Maine. I applogize because I don't know much of my family well, my whole life has been here in Southern California. My father (Patrick Martin)and is the son of Paul Martin and Elodia Lafierre. He was born Eagle lake and I believed it was in Soldier Pond where he met my Mother Rose Thibodeau. He and my mother moved here just before I was born 1954, I remember as a child going on vacation to visit family but I was very young. I'm the youngest of 4 children all whom live on the West coast. I would like to thank Ila Mae Rigwald daughter of Leonard Martin for keeping in contact with my wife. Our fathers were brothers and they stayed in contact till their passing. I grew up knowing that I have a big family back east but only know (2) of them today. I knew that our family back east was big because both of my parents came from big family.

I hope that I will be able to attend and it would be nice to hear from other family. I have always told my family of my great memories of Maine and I will always remember the smell of the trees. This is great site and I enjoyed reading all your emails. Funny one of my son's friends (Mike Brown)here in Calif. said his family is from Eagle Lake, Maybe somewhere we are related,he is also here in Southern California. Hope to hear from someone soon.....

Hello from Syracuse New York

As a young child, we made many trips to my aunts beautiful home on Eagle Lake. I would love to return to the home and visit with the present owners of the home. I have no idea where the house is on the lake. My aunts name was Rose Lebeouf and her home was all white wiht a porch that wrapped all the way around the house. It had a round stone foundation and a boat dock at the rear. My Dad's name was Eldridge Labbe and his parents were Romule Labbe and Mary "Sutherland" Labbe. Rose was my Dad's sister. If anyone can help me locate this home or give me any information about my family still in the area, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
