Hello to everyone in Eagle Lake. I am the grand daughter of Dr. Kirk who had a practice in Eagle Lake back in the 60's. I first discovered this website a couple of years ago. I signed in and heard from quite a few people who knew my grandparents. Mr. Raymond from Northern Maine General let us know about the centennial celebration that was occuring for NMG in September of 2007. My cousins and I came to Eagle Lake for the celebration of that hospital that my grandfather helped start so many years ago. We had a wonderful time and stayed at the Overlook Hotel which was great. It was such a walk down memory lane for me to return to Eagle Lake after almost 40 years. I brought my daugter along so she could feel what it is like to live in that small town atmostphere.
Happy New YEar to everyone in Eagle Lake.

My Father, Herbert Freeman, grew up in Eagle Lake in the late 1800-early 1900's. I drove up to Eagle Lake a couple years ago to have a look see. I never knew any of my Dad's family until the last decade or so. I would love to see pictures of what it must have been like during his time of growing up. Anyone have photos to share with me....Jessica

Born & raised in E.L. Parents were Willie & Marie Rose (Parent) Plourde. After there passing I was raised by my maternal grandparents Octave & Anna Parent. Attended St. Marys & Dirigo Schools. On to FKCHS. Always enjoy "going back home" for visits. Many fond memories of growing up in one of the most northern parts of 'the County'. Recall the days when the trains were running (steam engines) & the old train station with its coal stove in the lobby. Also the sound of the telegraph clicking away as that was the means of coomunication back then. Also can remember the school 'bazaars' as they were called & the winter carnivals down by Dirigo School, usually set up for about Mardi Gras time. There was an ice rink. Older kids would dress up in costumes. Bonfires, food & drinks. Still enjoy going 'up north' to visit with family & friends. The ride from about Patten to Madawaska has got to be the most scenic & I always like to refer to it as "Gods' Country". Of which I'm sure there are many others in this beautiful land of ours, yet there is no other place like HOME, your roots & where you're from.

What a great idea to have people sign your guest book. I was born, raised, married and had all three of our children while we lived in Eagle Lake and moved to Ct. in 1987 for no reason other than jobs. I have not been to my beloved hometown this year, yet, but our daughters go up every year to see their Memere's and other relatives who still reside in the area. Yes, there is no other community like Eagle Lake. Our middle daughter Nora wrote an essay in college about Eagle lake and her professor said to her "You know I wish everyone had an Eagle Lake in their backgrounds, maybe the world would be a better place. How fortunate you are to have been born and spent part of your life in Eagle Lake." Well, here is wishing all the people in Eagle Lake the best and thank God you spent part or all of your life in Eagle lake.
